THE POOR MANAGEMENT AND NEGLIGENT POLICY CAUSE THE POTENTIAL LOSS OF PROFIT OF TELSTRA

Telstra began with the long historic telecommunication in Australia. Obviously, the Australian telecommunication services originated from Postmaster General’s Department established in 1901. On July 1st, 1975, the Postmaster General’s Department split into two firms: Australian Post Commission ( Australia Post) and Australian Telecommunications Commission.

From 1989, Australian Telecommunications Commission operated as the business, it called Australian Telecommunications Corporation or Telecom and in 1993, it renamed Telstra. Therefore, the government company has fallen into the poor management, it is the manner of the most company owned by the taxpayers. The employees don’t care about the customer and the CEO has not much the brilliant idea, so when the private companies joined the telecommunication market as Optus presented from early 1990 and nowadays, there are many companies joined the competitive market as TPG, Vodafone, Primus….

Despite Telstra has the long history, but the CEO and government abandoned the customer plus the bad policy as high fees and bad services, those cause the customer left Telstra. The lost customer has started at least a decade ago but the CEO didn’t mind, actually, the top job is a good salary is the priority. The share gently plunged and the profit continued to lose. It is the time Chief Executive Andy Penn overhauls the company, so the first solution is to cut the job to save the money. On June 20, 2018, Telstra lays off 8,000 jobs including the contractors over next three years. CEO Andy Penn said:” We are now at a tipping point where we must act more boldly if we are to continue to be the nation’s leading telecommunications company”..it is too late for waking up. Despite Telstra privatized apart but the government still holds the major share, so Telstra lost the profit that affects the taxpayers. There is not only Telstra, NBN is the obsolete technology while the US and the other countries used the wireless internet, actually the 5G. Nevertheless, NBN wasted $AUD 65 billion and NBN made money for China (Huawei Router). NBN is the outstanding job of Labor, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Julia Gillard and Senator Penny Wong (Finance Minister) with Treasurer Wayne Swan created NBN. Moreover, NBN putting the life of Australian people at risk when Router disabled with many causes including the servers, the people couldn’t call or internet during the emergencies.

Telstra (*) lost value is worth $AUD 38 billion, it is the disaster of the first telecommunication company in Australia. The poor management plus negligent policy contributed to the loss of customer and conducted the profit plunged. Telstra and the other telecommunication companies get lost themselves by the foreign contractors, mostly, the contractors have no responsibility, so the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) has more complaints. The customers doubt the contractors could damage the landline or servers then they have the jobs, so the telecommunication companies eye on the contractors ./.

 

Notes: (*) the writer is a loyal customer of Telecom since 1983 and also Telstra too. Therefore, Telstra charged too much so I switched to the others. Nevertheless, I am a victim of internet abuse, there were many times, someone introduced Telstra’s technician, they rang up to my home phone with an Indian accent, they told me the internet is going to break down and told me turning on my computer, they instruct how to fix. I am no longer Telstra’s customer for long time, so I didn’t do as they told, if I do, they will extort money to fix the internet. My phone number and personal details should remain with Telstra, so someone used it to abuse and extort. I reported to Telstra, but they have not responded. I suggest CEO Andy Penn may review the contractors, they should cause the upset./.
