FOREWORD: The annual commemoration of Vietnamese people, the mourning day or Black April of April 30 marks into Vietnamese refugee community around the world as Chinese people commemorates the massacre in Tiananmen Square in 1989 into Chinese community in Hong Kong and outside China’s mainland and, annually, Jewish people commemorates the Holocaust, and never accepted the signs of Hitler, Nazi in the Jewish community overseas.
The Vietnamese people have never forgotten the Black April 20, 1975, after the Vietcong terror attempted the last invasion to break the Paris Peace Accords signed on January 27, 1973. It causes a million Vietnamese people to flee to find freedom and escape the inhumane regime. Despite the Vietnamese people losing the land, they brought the Yellow flag with three red stripes and their national spirit with them. The Vietnamese refugees overseas condemn the Red flag with the yellow star of Vietcong, which is not the original flag of the Vietnamese people. Indeed, the Red flag represents communism as the pirate used the Black flag with a white skull and two crossbones in the days of yore. The world recognized the sign of a pirate.
From 1975, the Viet Cong’s ruthless efforts have tried to remove the Yellow flag with three red stripes by multiple malicious methods, but Vietcong’s undercover activists and the henchmen failed because the Yellow flag has hung in the hearts of every Vietnamese people. Therefore, the city council says nothing and the council respects the mourning day of Vietnamese people, moreover, the Vietnamese residents are the voters of local, state and federal members, so the politicians can not ignore the voice of Vietnamese community, their contribution, and the ballots became the forte of the Vietnamese refugees who lost the country but have never lost the national spirit, and the Yellow flag. Nevertheless, the city council authorized the removal of the yellow flag, but Vietcong’s kid Dương Đức Thịnh has no authority to do so, so he breached the law and faced criminal charges. The Vietnamese overseas and the patriotic Vietnamese people praise the national spirit of the Vietnamese community in Sydney.
After April 30, 1975, Vietcong claimed an unpredictable victory, despite it exchanging 1.5 million lives of the North Viet Cong troops and their henchmen living in South Vietnam, the people called” eating the nationalist rice but worshiping the evil communist”. • H.Con.Res.50 was introduced in the 119th Congress in September 2025. This concurrent resolution recognizes the flag as “a symbol of the Vietnamese national community that fought alongside the United States against communism” and “a symbol of the Vietnamese American refugee community.”
• Legal Status: These resolutions serve as symbolic recognition and affirmation of cultural identity.
• State and Local Recognition: As of 2023, the flag has been officially recognized by more than 20 U.S. states and numerous cities through local resolutions. These local measures allow the flag to be flown at certain community events or locations alongside the U.S. flag.
In summary, while there have been significant movements and recent resolutions introduced in Congress to honor the flag’s significance to the Vietnamese American community, it has not yet received full federal recognition/.
