I was shocked by the recent announcement that House Republicans had agreed to a “deal” with the Democrats and Biden White House.
I should not have been shocked, but I was.
For a long time I have been warning America is close to becoming a one-party state.
I have laid out these concerns in my new book “Final Battle: The Next Election Could Be the Last.”
Recently Tucker Carlson said that the one-party state has already arrived.
The GOP announcement indicates he is right.
The Debt Deal was nothing more than a total Republican surrender to the House Democrats.
Remember that the House Republicans “control” the House of Representatives.
And the Constitution provides that the House makes and approves all appropriations of government.
Under our system, the House has enormous power.
But you would not have known that if you looked at this Debt Deal.
Yesterday, a veteran congressman called me. He has been a fighter for our side for a long time.
What he told me scared me.
He said the House Republicans not only rolled over in this debt approval, but they also agreed to change the normal rules for these debt deals.
First, he said to me this is not a “$4 trillion” deal. The deal, in fact, has no cap on money whatsoever.
The GOP actually agreed to let Biden and the Democrats spend as much as they want during a fixed time period — with the deal expiring in 2025.
This is like giving the Democrats a credit card with no limit!
The second terrible thing he told me was that the House agreed to move the next debt agreement until after the 2025 election.
This, he told me, is a gift to Joe Biden . . . and his reelection effort.
Typically, debt deals were done with a fixed amount of money, let’s say $900 billion.
And the leash is usually tight, giving Democrats a year or less to hit that limit.
My friend said this was even more important in 2024 because the Republicans could use a debt renewal, then to really show the American people how reckless Biden and the Democrats are with their money.
But now — by removing both the cap and the leash during the ’24 election — House Republicans are effectively giving the Democrats the White House, and, likely, the House and Senate.
But why are Kevin McCarthy and the GOP leadership caving into such a noxious deal?
As I explain in “Final Battle,” the far left now has a stranglehold over almost all aspects of our government.
We are seeing this complete lack of accountability in agencies like the IRS, the Justice Department, the FBI, and other agencies.
They strike out at their critics and dissenters and do so with impunity.
