I have lived in Box Hill for many decades. It was housing commission land. Nobody wanted to buy there. After the 1970’s many new arrivals from Asia moved here. Many were escaping communism. More recently, Box Hill has become the 2nd biggest city in Victoria in terms of skyscrapers, only following Melbourne. The atmosphere is like a Chinese city. Many shops only show signage in Chinese, no English. There has been a wave of very rich Chinese in the last 15 years, buying and demolishing beautiful houses and gardens. A Chinese house will take up the entire block of land. Gardens are not valued. This has devalued entire suburbs surrounding Box Hill. MANY of these new mansions are empty. Some are occupied by elderly Chinese who are obviously unaccustomed to wealth. They do not drive, they do not speak English. New Chinese have no interest in getting to know – or even saying hello – to aussies. Many businesses are fronts. Daniel Andrews, the premier, leased Melbourne Port for 50 years to a Chinese company. I hear they own much of the NSW grid. It is good new that we rejected corrupt company Huywei, but that could change with the wind. We must stop trading with mainland China. We must support Taiwan, and sanction Qantus for perpetuating the myth that Taiwan is ROC. It is not, nor are the Spratleys, Tibet, or Box Hill. Australians have had so much peace – it is beyond time for politeness. The dragon has made several moves, there is no longer any doubt of its intention.
